Brand identity + creative direction
Kapot Grappig was born out of a recognized gap. Schiedam's Municipality, Cultuurfabriek Schiedam, and Theater aan de Schie noticed younger audiences drifting away from theatre, and set out to change that. The answer was a stand-up comedy event, co-produced with students from Hogeschool Rotterdam to keep the production and creative direction contemporary. The visual identity had a goal; not look like theatre. Inspired by the confidence of Comedy Central and retro MTV, the design leans into bold typography and colors that commands attention. Condensed Futura scaled up while textured overlays keep the whole identity from feeling too polished or too digital.
